What Is KOORI AI? The Platform for Character Worlds, Live Calls and Reels

KOORI Journal ·

If you searched for KOORI AI, you probably heard the name from a friend, a post or a link that said koori.ai. This page is the plain explanation. KOORI is a platform for character worlds: a place to create original characters, discover characters other people made, talk with them in text and live calls, and turn the best moments into short films called Reels. It runs in your phone or desktop browser and you do not need to bring your own AI key.

KOORI in one paragraph

KOORI calls itself a Platform for Character Worlds, and the important word is worlds. Most character chat apps treat a character as a single text box with a personality prompt. KOORI treats a character as someone who lives somewhere: they have a look, a voice, a home, a few people they care about and a history with you that grows as you talk. The app is built around that idea, from how characters are created to how conversations are remembered and how stories become video.

Both koori.world and koori.ai point to the same app. If you typed koori ai into a search engine because you could not remember the exact address, you are in the right place. Some people also arrive here looking for a similarly named but unrelated project; if that is you, our separate guide explains the difference.

Create your own original characters

The heart of KOORI is the character creator. You describe an idea in a sentence or two, choose an art style such as 3D, anime or illustrated, and KOORI generates a portrait along with a suggested personality, backstory and home world. Everything it suggests is editable. The best characters usually come from people who read the draft carefully, delete what feels generic and add one specific habit or contradiction.

You can test the character in a private room before saving, switching between a direct companion conversation and a narrated adventure style. When you are happy, you save, and your character keeps its portrait, voice and notes. Finished characters can be shared publicly after an automated safety check, or kept private so only you can chat and film with them.

Making a character, step by step

  1. Step 1: Open Create. Go to /app/create and choose to make a character.
  2. Step 2: Describe the idea. Write who they are, where they live and one thing they want.
  3. Step 3: Pick a style. Choose the art style that suits the genre and check the face in the reveal.
  4. Step 4: Edit the personality. Rewrite the voice and backstory until it sounds like someone specific.
  5. Step 5: Test before saving. Have a short conversation and push back once to see if they stay themselves.
  6. Step 6: Save and share or keep private. Publish to Discover after review, or keep the character for yourself.

Discover characters other people made

Discover is the browsing side of KOORI: a grid of community characters you can filter by genre and art style, from cozy monster friends and fantasy guardians to sci-fi pilots and anime rivals. Featured collections group characters by creator or theme, and many characters have their own World page with extra pictures and lore.

Tap a character to start a conversation. If you like a creator’s style, you can follow the world they are building. Discover only shows characters that passed review; private characters never appear to other people.

Text chat, voice and Live Calls

Text chat is where most stories start. Characters answer in their own voice, can offer a few reply choices when you are not sure what to say, and you can ask for a picture of a scene you are imagining together. Replies are kept short and readable on a phone by default, and you can change reply length in your preferences.

Characters can also speak. Many characters have a custom voice you can hear in the app, and characters whose call setup is complete support a Live Call: a real-time spoken conversation with an animated portrait of the character. Live Call depends on the character having a clear single portrait, and call time is limited by plan or credits. A traditional phone call option is listed as coming soon and is not available yet, so we do not count it as a feature today.

Memory that grows, honestly described

KOORI saves your conversation history and stores selected facts and summaries so a character can bring back relevant details later: your name, a promise, the festival you planned together. That makes long stories feel continuous. It is not perfect recall. In a very long story a character can still miss a detail, so it helps to mention important facts again when they matter.

Your saved chats stay on your account across devices, so you can start a story on your phone and continue on a laptop.

Reels: turn a moment into a short film

Reels are KOORI’s short video format. You choose a cast of characters, pick a format such as a trailer, a scene or a slice of life, and describe the moment. KOORI plans a handful of shots, films them with your characters and stitches them into a single video with voices and optional captions. Reels can run from a few seconds up to about a minute.

Reels use credits because video generation is expensive to run, and the app shows the cost before you commit. Free Reels carry a small watermark. You can keep a Reel private, download it or share it.

Fandom, mobile web and languages

KOORI is designed for people who like building worlds together. Creators publish characters, other people chat with them, and favorite moments become Reels and pictures that grow a character’s World. Rewards for daily visits and milestones add a light game layer without getting in the way.

There is no app store download required. KOORI runs in the browser on iPhone, Android and desktop, and you can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app. The interface is available in English, Portuguese, French, Japanese, German and Spanish.

KOORI AI login and pricing

To log in, open koori.world/app/auth. New accounts are created with Google or Apple during the beta, and people who already have an email and password account can still sign in with it. After signing in, a short onboarding asks for your age and country so KOORI can apply the right safety settings; younger users get a stricter experience automatically.

You do not need an OpenAI, Anthropic or any other external API key. Every model KOORI uses is hosted for you. There is a free tier to try chat and creation. Paid memberships currently start with Fan at $9.99 a month, then Creator Pro at $19.99 with a seven-day trial, MAX at $39.99 and Studio at $129.99, each adding more included credits and allowances. One-time credit packs are also available for Reels and calls. Prices can change, so check the pricing screen in the app for current details.

KOORI AI FAQ

Is koori.ai the same as koori.world?

Yes. Both addresses open the same KOORI app and the same account.

Do I need my own API key?

No. KOORI is a hosted platform, so models for chat, voice, pictures and video are included and paid through your plan or credits.

Is KOORI free?

There is a free tier for chatting and creating. Some features, such as more Reels, extra chat pictures and longer calls, use credits or a paid membership.

Can I video call a character?

Live Call lets you speak with an animated portrait of a character in real time when that character’s call setup is ready. It is not a camera call with a real person, and it needs call time from your plan or credits.

Does KOORI work on my phone?

Yes. It runs in mobile browsers and can be added to your home screen.

Start your first character world

The quickest way to understand KOORI is to try it. Browse a few characters in Discover, start one conversation, and if an idea sparks, open Create and make a character of your own. Ten minutes is enough to see whether a world feels alive.

KOORI publishes this Journal. Features, prices, credit costs and eligibility can change during the beta; check the current app and terms before relying on a specific detail. AI characters can make mistakes and memory can be incomplete.
